About Kuhushan Point

Kuhushan Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off in DFO subarea 14-13 off Comox, British Columbia, where the bottom falls from 20 to 150 feet. Chinook Salmon peak from June through August and Coho Salmon run from May into September, while Lingcod hold along the structure through two windows, January to March and May to September. For both salmon, trolling with anchovy, herring, trolling spoons, and hootchies covers the water over the drop, and mooching cut-plug or whole herring works the same edges. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to the rock, with whole herring, live greenling, or squid as a bait option. The site also holds Pacific Cod, Canary Rockfish, Yellowmouth Rockfish, and, in season, Pacific Albacore Tuna.
