Cherry Point is a mixed-bottom spot off Sidney, British Columbia, in DFO subarea 18-7, with mid-range exposure and depths spanning 15 to 80 feet. Chinook Salmon peak here from June through August, while Coho Salmon hold through a longer window from May into September, and Spot Prawn round out the target species. Anglers work Chinook with downrigger trolling using anchovy in a teaser head, trolling spoons, hootchies, and flashers across the depth range, dropping to mooched cut-plug herring or metal jigs when fish sit deeper. Coho respond to trolled spoons and flashers over the same water, with bucktail flies working the surface layer during the summer run. Spot Prawn come from traps set on the deeper mixed bottom toward the 80-foot end, baited with fish meal pellets or cured fish scraps.
