Genoa Bay Area is an inner protected bay in the Cowichan region of British Columbia, set over a mud bottom in waters that run from 20 to 80 feet. The bay holds Chinook Salmon through its peak from June to September and Coho Salmon from June to October, giving the area a long summer-into-fall window. Downrigger trolling is the primary approach for Chinook, working anchovy in a teaser head, hootchies, trolling spoons, and flashers across the protected depths. Anglers targeting Coho troll the same water with hootchies, spoons, anchovies, and flashers, and bucktailing near the surface takes fish through the same months. In the calmer conditions of the inner bay, mooching cut-plug or whole herring holds gear in the productive 20-to-80-foot band for both species.
