Burial Islet Hump is a rock pinnacle in the Cowichan waters of British Columbia, rising through a mid-exposure water column that runs 30 to 150 feet. The structure holds a strong rockfish population, including China, Black (peak May–Aug), Copper (year-round), Quillback, and Canary Rockfish, alongside resident Lingcod that peak from June through August. Chinook Salmon move through from June to September, and Pacific Halibut work the surrounding bottom from March to July. Lingcod respond to jigging with swimbaits, metal jigs, and bucktail jigs over the high rock, while live bait drifting with greenling or herring covers the same terrain. Chinook are taken on downrigger trolling with anchovy in a teaser head, hootchies, or spoons behind flashers, and halibut hold to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbait tails along the deeper margins.
