About Musgrave Point

Musgrave Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off in DFO subarea 18-7 off Cowichan, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of roughly 260 to 660 feet. The point holds Chinook Salmon from June through September and Coho Salmon from June into October, with anglers working downrigger trolling for Chinook using anchovy in teaser heads, hootchies, trolling spoons, and flashers, and switching to trolling with the same spreads for Coho. The rock structure also supports strong bottom fishing, with Lingcod peaking June through August and Black Rockfish holding from May through August. Jigging metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits along the drop-off targets both Lingcod and rockfish, while live bait drifting with greenling or small rockfish tempts larger Lingcod near the structure. Copper Rockfish are present year-round across the same rocky ground.
