Burial Islet is an outer-exposed rock drop-off in the Cowichan waters of British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of roughly 30 to 150 feet. The structure draws Chinook Salmon from June through September and Coho Salmon from June into October, with downrigger trolling using anchovy in teaser heads, hootchies, and flashers working the salmon along the edge. Pacific Halibut hold on the deeper bottom from March through July, targeted with drift jigging over the rock using leadhead jigs with swimbait tails and heavy metal jigs. Lingcod concentrate on the drop-off from June to August and respond to jigging with swimbaits and metal jigs, while Black Rockfish (May–Aug) and Copper Rockfish (year-round) sit tight to the rock and take metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits. The exposed edge and its abrupt change in depth keep bait and fish stacked against the structure, making the transition zone the focus of most drops.
