The Hump 0.6 km E of Patey Rock is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle in the Cowichan waters of British Columbia, rising through a depth range of roughly 15 to 220 feet. The structure holds a strong resident population of Lingcod, which peak from June through August, alongside Copper, Black, Canary, and China Rockfish that work the rocky ledges and pinnacle walls. Pacific Halibut move over the deeper flanks with a peak from March through July, while Chinook Salmon (June through September) and Coho Salmon (June through October) pass through the exposed edge of the spot. Anglers targeting Lingcod jig swimbaits, metal jigs, and bucktail jigs over the pinnacle, or drift live greenling and small rockfish along the rock. For salmon, downrigger trolling with anchovy in a teaser head, hootchies, and flashers works the outer exposure, and rockfish come readily to metal jigs and leadhead jigs bounced through the mid-depths.
