Patey Rock is an exposed pinnacle off Cowichan, British Columbia, where rocky structure rises through water running 40 to 120 feet deep. The rock holds Pacific Halibut, peaking March through July, and Lingcod that turn on from June through August, alongside resident Quillback, Darkblotched, and Rosy rockfish. Chinook Salmon move through the area June to September and Coho follow from June into October, giving the spot a long window of salmon activity over the pinnacle. Halibut come to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbait tails or heavy metal jigs worked along the bottom, while Lingcod respond to swimbaits, metal jigs, and bucktail jigs dropped tight to the rock. Salmon are worked higher in the column with downrigger trolling using anchovy in teaser heads, hootchies, and trolling spoons behind flashers.
