Ous Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Gold River, British Columbia, where the bottom falls from 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon run here from May through September and Coho follow from June into October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies along the edge. The depth and rock structure hold Pacific Halibut from March through August, worked with drift jigging using leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs over the bottom. Lingcod concentrate on the rock in February through April and again in late summer, responding to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, while Black Rockfish stack up from spring into summer for jigging with soft plastic swimbaits. Pacific Cod and Pollock round out the catch across the deeper water.
