Gore Island is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Gold River, British Columbia, dropping through a depth range of 0 to 260 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside Lingcod that come on strong in February through April and again in August and September. Anglers work the pinnacle for halibut with drift jigging using leadhead jigs and soft plastics, metal jigs, or herring, while lingcod hold tight to the rock and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs. Black Rockfish stack up over the same structure through spring and summer, taking metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits, and Chinook Salmon move through from May to September with Coho following from June into October, both targeted by trolling spoons, herring, and hootchies over the exposed shelf. The mix of shallow rock and deep water off the pinnacle concentrates fish across a wide vertical range, making depth the main variable to work through a session.
