About Concepcion Point

Concepcion Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Gold River, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Pacific Halibut are the main draw here, peaking from March through August, while Lingcod hold along the rock through February to April and again in August and September. Chinook Salmon move through from May to September, and the structure also holds Darkblotched and Canary Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish. Drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics, metal jigs, or herring works the deeper water for halibut, and bottom bait fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid covers the same ground. Over the rock itself, jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits targets lingcod, while trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies takes Chinook higher in the water column.
