Descubierta Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Gold River, British Columbia, where the bottom falls through 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon hold here from May through September and Coho Salmon from June through October, with anglers working the structure by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies, or mooching cut-plug herring along the edge. Pacific Halibut move over the deeper contours from March through August, taken by drift jigging leadhead jigs with soft plastics or metal jigs, while Lingcod concentrate on the rock from February through April and again in August and September. Black Rockfish work the same broken structure from March and through May into August, responding to metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits. The steep transition from rock to open water keeps bait and predators stacked across a wide depth band, making the point productive through much of the year.
