Hoiss Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off near Gold River, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of roughly 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April and again from August into September, alongside Pacific Halibut that fish best from March through August across the deeper contours. Chinook Salmon move through from May to September and Coho from June into October, joined by a mix of rockfish including Rougheye, Silvergray, Canary, and Copper. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs over the rock, while halibut come to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics, metal jigs, or herring worked along the base of the drop. For salmon, trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies covers water over the deep edge, with mooching cut-plug herring a useful supporting approach for Chinook.
