San Carlos Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off near Gold River, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of roughly 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon hold here from May through September and Coho follow from June into October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies along the structure. The deep rock also supports Pacific Halibut, strongest March through August and worked with drift jigging using leadhead jigs and soft plastics or metal jigs, while Lingcod peak in late winter and again in late summer and respond to metal jigs and swimbaits over the same terrain. Black Rockfish concentrate near the drop from spring into summer, where jigging with metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits reaches fish stacked along the rock edges. The steep contour and exposed setting keep bait and predators tight to the break, making depth control the key factor when fishing this ground.
