STRUCTURE

Outer Exposed

Argonaut Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Gold River, British Columbia, where the bottom falls through 260 to 660 feet. The deep structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside Lingcod that run strongest in February through April and again in August and September. Halibut hold near the base of the drop, where drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics, metal jigs, or herring covers water efficiently, while bottom bait fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid works the same depths. Lingcod stack on the rock itself and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs. Chinook Salmon move through from May to September and Coho Salmon from June to October, both taken by trolling herring, spoons, and hootchies along the exposed edge.
