Bligh Island sits off Gold River on the outer coast of British Columbia, a rock drop-off exposed to open water where the bottom falls from 330 to 1310 feet. The steep structure holds Chinook Salmon from May through September and Coho Salmon from June into October, with both species best worked by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies along the edge. Lingcod stack on the rock in two windows, February through April and again in August and September, and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs. Pacific Halibut move through from March to August and are taken by drift jigging leadhead jigs tipped with soft plastics or herring over the deeper contours. Quillback Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish round out the bottom fishery across the same rocky drop.
