Spouter Island sits in the outer-exposed waters off Gold River, British Columbia, where a rock drop-off falls through depths of 40 to 120 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon from May through September and Coho Salmon from June through October, with both species most reliably taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies along the edge. Pacific Halibut work the deeper rock between March and August and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs, soft plastics, or herring. Lingcod concentrate on the drop-off during their February-to-April and August-to-September peaks, where jigging metal jigs and swimbaits over the rock reaches fish tucked into the structure. The exposed setting and steep bottom also bring Pacific Cod, Darkblotched Rockfish, Sablefish, and Blue Shark into the mix through the season.
