About Campbell Bay Hump

Campbell Bay Hump is a rock pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, sitting in DFO subarea 18-1 along an outer, exposed stretch where depths range from 165 to 495 feet. The structure holds a steady population of rockfish, including Canary, China, and Copper Rockfish, with Copper Rockfish available year-round and best worked over the rocky bottom with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs tipped with soft plastics. Lingcod concentrate on the pinnacle from February through April, where jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs produces along the rock, backed by bait fishing with live greenling, whole herring, or squid. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and respond to trolled anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons, while Coho Salmon follow from June to October on trolling spoons, hootchies, plastic squid, and cut-plug herring. Pacific Cod and Sablefish round out the deeper water over the same rock and pinnacle structure.
