About David Cove Hump

David Cove Hump is a rock pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising through mid-exposure water within DFO subarea 18-1, with fishable depths running from 165 to 495 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April, alongside resident Quillback, Rougheye, and Canary Rockfish and Pacific Cod over the rock. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho follow from June into October. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs worked down the pinnacle's flanks, with bait fishing using live greenling, whole herring, or squid as a supporting approach. Salmon are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, or spoons across the hump, with mooching and metal jigs filling in through the season.
