About Edith Point Hump

Edith Point Hump is a rocky pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, sitting within DFO subarea 18-1 at moderate exposure with depths running 165 to 495 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April, alongside a mix of rockfish including Canary, Redbanded, Darkblotched, and Rougheye, plus Sablefish over the deeper rock. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho follow from June into October, making the summer months productive for salmon on the same ground. Anglers targeting Lingcod work the pinnacle with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs over the rock, or fish bait such as live greenling, whole herring, or squid near the bottom. For salmon, trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, or spoons covers water across the hump, while mooching cut-plug herring and jigging metal jigs offer alternatives when Chinook stack up.
