About Georgeson Island Hump

Georgeson Island Hump is a rocky pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, sitting within DFO subarea 18-1 at moderate exposure with depths running from 170 to 480 feet. The structure holds a strong groundfish population, with lingcod peaking from February through April and copper rockfish available year-round across the rock. Anglers work the pinnacle for lingcod with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, backing them up with live greenling, whole herring, or squid on bait setups. Copper rockfish respond to jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or bottom fishing with herring and cut bait along the rock. Chinook salmon move through from May to August and coho from June to October, both taken by trolling spoons, hootchies, and cut-plug herring over the deeper water surrounding the hump.
