Wallace Point / Bedwell Harbour Entrance

The Hump 0.5 km south of Wallace Point is a rocky pinnacle in British Columbia's Gulf Islands, rising through mid-exposure water at depths of 5 to 35 feet. The structure holds Pacific Halibut, which peak from March through August, alongside Lingcod that come on strongest from February through April and Chinook Salmon that build through the May to August window. Anglers targeting halibut work the rock with drift jigging using metal jigs, leadhead jigs with soft plastics, or herring, backed by bait fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid. Lingcod hold tight to the pinnacle and respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs, while Chinook are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, or spoons across the surrounding water. Rougheye, shortraker, and darkblotched rockfish along with sablefish also occupy the deeper rock around the feature.
