Money Maker Reef is a rocky pinnacle in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia, rising through mid-exposure water where depths run from 35 to 50 feet. The structure holds a strong rockfish population year-round, with Copper Rockfish available January through December and Black Rockfish peaking from February to October, both of which respond well to jigging with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits over the rock. Lingcod stack up on the pinnacle from February through April, taking swimbaits and metal jigs worked close to the bottom, while live greenling and whole herring serve as supporting baits. Pacific Halibut move through from March to August and hold on the deeper margins, where drift jigging with leadhead jigs and soft plastics or whole herring covers the ground effectively. Chinook Salmon run May through August and Coho from June through October, both worked with trolling spoons, hootchies, and cut-plug herring along the reef edges.
