About Erskine Point

Erskine Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off in DFO subarea 18-7 off Cowichan, British Columbia, where the bottom falls from 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon hold here through their June–September peak, with Coho Salmon running June–October, and downrigger trolling with anchovy in a teaser head, hootchies, or flashers works the moving water along the edge. Lingcod concentrate on the rock from June to August and respond to jigging with swimbaits, metal jigs, or bucktail jigs worked close to structure. Black Rockfish stack over the same terrain from May through August, taken on metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits. The steep contour also holds Canary Rockfish and Pacific Cod, while Blue Shark move through the exposed outer water.
