Separation Point sits within Sansum Narrows off Cowichan, British Columbia, where a constricted channel funnels current across depths running from 40 to 250 feet. The narrows concentrate lingcod along rocky structure and drop-offs, with the fishery peaking from June through August. Anglers work the deeper contours by jigging with swimbaits, metal jigs, and bucktail jigs, letting the lure track the bottom where lingcod hold. Live bait drifting supports the approach, presenting live greenling, small rockfish, or herring through the same structure as tide moves water through the passage. The strong tidal flow shapes how bait and jigs drift, making current timing a central factor at this spot.
