Maxwell Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off in the Cowichan waters of British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon from June through September and Coho Salmon from June into October, with both species worked most effectively by downrigger trolling and trolling flashers, hootchies, spoons, and anchovies over the edge. Lingcod stack up on the rock through the summer months, peaking June to August and responding to jigging with swimbaits, metal jigs, and bucktail jigs. Pacific Halibut move across the deeper flats from March through July and are taken by drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbait tails or heavy metal jigs. Copper Rockfish hold on the rock year-round and take metal jigs, leadhead jigs with soft plastics, and swimbaits along the drop.
