A:mak:nit Island sits in the outer exposed waters off Kyuquot, British Columbia, marking a rock drop-off that falls from the surface to around 100 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from March through May and again from June through August, alongside Pacific Halibut running strong from March into August. Chinook Salmon move through between May and August, followed by Coho Salmon from June into September, while Sablefish and several rockfish species work the deeper rock below. Anglers targeting Lingcod jig metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs along the drop-off, while Halibut come to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits worked near the bottom. For salmon, trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons over the exposed edge covers both Chinook and Coho through their overlapping seasons.
