Chief Rock is an exposed rock pinnacle off Kyuquot, British Columbia, rising through waters that run from the surface to about 75 feet on the outer coast. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from March through May and again from June through August, alongside Black Rockfish that stay active from March into September and Pacific Halibut in the March-to-August window. Chinook Salmon move through from May to August and Coho follow from June into September, while Copper and Quillback Rockfish work the rock year-round. Anglers targeting Lingcod and Black Rockfish jig metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs tight to the pinnacle, while Halibut come to drift jigging with leadheads and swimbaits over the rock bottom. For the salmon runs, trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons across the exposed edges covers the moving fish holding around the structure.
