Outer Exposed

Hump 1.2 km NW of Expedition Islets is an exposed rock pinnacle rising from the outer coast off Kyuquot, British Columbia, with depths running from 100 to 370 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from March through May and again from June through August, alongside Pacific Halibut that fish best from March through August. Canary, Copper, Rougheye, and Splitnose Rockfish share the same rocky ground across the pinnacle's slopes and ledges. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the harder structure, while bait fishing with whole herring, live greenling, or squid works the same terrain. Halibut here come to drift jigging with leadhead jigs, swimbaits, and metal jigs, or to bottom bait fishing with whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, and squid worked along the deeper margins.
