Rolston Island sits off Kyuquot on British Columbia's outer coast, a rock drop-off exposed to open Pacific water that falls from 330 to 1310 feet. Chinook Salmon run strongest from May through August and Coho follow from June into September, with both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies along the edge. Lingcod hold on the rock structure and peak in spring and again through summer, responding to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked over the bottom. Black Rockfish stack up from March through September and take jigs and soft plastic swimbaits, while Pacific Halibut move through the deeper contours from March to August for drift-jigging with leadhead jigs and metal jigs. The steep drop and exposed setting concentrate fish across a wide depth band, so anglers adjust their presentation to the structure and the tide.
