Edgell Banks is an outer-exposed flat over mixed bottom off Nanaimo, British Columbia, sitting in DFO subarea 17-18 with depths running 400 to 460 feet. The deep flat holds Pacific Halibut and Lingcod, with lingcod peaking from March through April and again May through August, alongside Darkblotched Rockfish, Pacific Cod, and Sablefish across the bottom. Chinook and Coho Salmon move through the exposed water from June into September. Anglers work halibut with drift jigging using leadhead jigs and soft plastics, metal jigs, or herring, and back that up with bait fishing whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid on the mixed floor. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs and swimbaits over the same structure, while salmon are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, and flashers with hoochies through the upper water column.
