Forwood Channel Hump is a rocky pinnacle in DFO subarea 17-11 off Nanaimo, British Columbia, rising through mid-exposure water with depths ranging from 45 to 370 feet. The steep rock structure holds Pacific Halibut, Lingcod, Pacific Ocean Perch, Canary Rockfish, and Copper Rockfish, with Lingcod peaking from March through April and again from May through August. Chinook and Coho Salmon move through the area from June into September. Anglers work the deeper rock with drift jigging for halibut, using leadhead jigs with soft plastics, metal jigs, or herring, and jig metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the pinnacle for lingcod. Salmon fishing centres on trolling anchovy, herring, flashers with hoochies, and trolling spoons across the structure during the summer runs.
