French Creek Hump is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Nanaimo, British Columbia, rising through water that runs 80 to 180 feet deep. The structure holds Chinook Salmon and Coho Salmon, both peaking from June through September. Trolling is the dominant approach here, with anchovy, herring, flashers paired with hoochies, and trolling spoons worked along the pinnacle's edges and depth breaks. Anglers targeting Chinook also mooch cut-plug or whole herring, while metal jigs produce for both species over the rock. The pinnacle concentrates fish against its slopes, making depth control across the 80-to-180-foot range the key to staying in the strike zone.
