Nonooa Rock is an outer-exposed pinnacle rising over rock bottom in DFO subarea 17-19 off Nanaimo, British Columbia, with depths ranging from 5 to 105 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from March through April and again from May through August, alongside a mix of rockfish including canary, rougheye, rosethorn, and darkblotched, plus Pacific halibut across the deeper edges. Chinook and coho salmon move through from June to September, drawing trolling with anchovy, herring, or flashers with hoochies along the exposed water. For lingcod, jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs over the rock works the pinnacle's structure, while drift jigging leadhead jigs with soft plastics or metal jigs targets halibut along the deeper contours. The steep relief and outer exposure concentrate fish where the pinnacle breaks the current.
