Orlebar Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off in DFO subarea 17-12 off Nanaimo, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Chinook and Coho Salmon both peak from June through September, while Lingcod hold along the structure from March to April and again from May through August, with Rockfish present year-round. Trolling anchovy, herring, or flashers with hoochies works the salmon along the edge of the drop, and mooching cut-plug herring covers the same water at a slower pace. Lingcod and Rockfish come from jigging metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits worked close to the rock, with bait fishing whole herring or squid as a supporting approach. The steep contour and deep water also hold Pacific Halibut, Pacific Cod, Sablefish, and Spiny Dogfish across the same ground.
