Barge Rock is an exposed pinnacle rising from rocky bottom off Port Hardy, British Columbia, with fishable structure spanning roughly 35 to 100 feet. The rock and its outer exposure hold lingcod, which peak from May through August, alongside quillback, canary, and copper rockfish that work the same broken terrain. Anglers jig metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs with soft plastics through the pinnacle for lingcod, and drop whole herring or squid on bait rigs when fish sit tight to structure. Pacific halibut move across the deeper margins from March through August, taken by drift fishing whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid along the base. Chinook salmon run May through August and coho from June through September, both worked by trolling herring, anchovy, spoons, and hootchies over the exposed water surrounding the rock.
