Alleviation Rock is an outer-exposed rocky pinnacle off Port Hardy, British Columbia, rising through depths of 40 to 180 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon and Lingcod from May through August, with Coho Salmon peaking June through September and Pacific Halibut running March through August across the surrounding rock and drop-offs. Chinook hold near the pinnacle where trolling anchovy, herring, and spoons works the water column, while jigging metal jigs and leadhead jigs with soft plastics targets Lingcod and Black Rockfish tight to the rock. Halibut come to drift fishing over the deeper edges with whole herring, salmon bellies, or squid, and the exposed pinnacle concentrates fish where current sweeps the structure. Black Rockfish stack over the rock through the May-to-September window and take metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits worked near the bottom.
