Tribune Rock Hump is a rocky pinnacle in the outer exposed waters off Port Hardy, British Columbia, rising through a depth range of 5 to 90 feet. The structure holds a strong mix of bottomfish and salmon, with Lingcod and Chinook Salmon peaking May through August, Pacific Halibut running March through August, and Coho Salmon building from June into September. Canary Rockfish, Pacific Ocean Perch, and Sablefish round out the resident bottom species drawn to the rock. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs with soft plastics, or drop whole herring and squid to the deeper flanks for Halibut on the drift. Chinook and Coho hold near the exposed edges of the hump, where trolling spoons, herring, and hootchies cover the upper water column above the structure.
