About Cholberg Point Hump

Cholberg Point Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from outer-exposed water off Port Hardy, British Columbia, with depths running from 100 to 250 feet. The structure holds Lingcod and Chinook Salmon through their peak from May to August, while Pacific Halibut fish well across a longer window from March to August. Rougheye, Silvergray, and Shortraker Rockfish, along with Sablefish and Pacific Cod, work the deeper rock and broken bottom around the pinnacle. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs dressed with soft plastics, and halibut are taken by drifting whole herring, salmon bellies, octopus, or squid over the same depth range. Chinook are best worked by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies along the edges of the structure.
