Bowlder Point is an outer-exposed rock drop-off off Port McNeill, British Columbia, where the bottom falls from roughly 20 to 200 feet along broken structure. Chinook Salmon run from May through August and Coho Salmon from May through September, both taken by trolling whole herring, anchovy, spoons, or flashers with hootchies over the edge. Pacific Halibut hold on the deeper flats from May through August and respond to drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits or bottom bait fishing with salmon heads and octopus. Lingcod work the rock through several windows across the year, peaking in late winter and again from June into September, while Black Rockfish stack up from March through September and Copper Rockfish from June through September. Both rockfish and lingcod come to metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits fished tight to the drop-off.
