Hump 1.2 km W of House Islet is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Port McNeill, rising through water that runs 70 to 240 feet deep. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February to March, June to July, and August to September, alongside Black Rockfish that stay active March through September and a mix of Quillback and Canary Rockfish. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to the rock, while black rockfish take metal jigs and soft plastic swimbaits over the same terrain. Pacific Halibut move through from May to August and can be reached with drift jigging using leadhead jigs and metal jigs along the deeper flanks of the pinnacle. Chinook and Coho Salmon pass over the hump from late spring into summer, and trolling spoons, whole herring, and flashers cover the upper water where salmon hold near this exposed structure.
