Neill Ledge is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle off Port McNeill, British Columbia, rising through waters from the surface down to about 45 feet. The structure holds a strong resident population of Lingcod, which peak from February through March, again in June and July, and once more from August into September, alongside Black Rockfish that stay active March through September and Copper Rockfish through the summer into fall. Anglers work the pinnacle with metal jigs, leadhead jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits over the rock, dropping tight to the structure where these bottom species stack up. Chinook and Coho Salmon move through from May onward, taking trolled whole herring, spoons, and flashers with hootchies along the outer edges, while Pacific Halibut hold on the deeper margins from May through August. Drift jigging with leadhead jigs and swimbaits covers the halibut ground when tide and current allow a controlled drift across the shallow, broken bottom.
