Distances are in a straight line, not by water.

West San Simon Point Hump is a rocky pinnacle off Port Renfrew, rising in outer, exposed water where depths run 40 to 115 feet. The structure holds a mix of rockfish—Canary, Copper, Quillback, and China—alongside Lingcod, which peak from May through August. Pacific Halibut work the same ground with a peak from March through August, while Chinook Salmon move through from May into September and Coho follow from June through September. Lingcod respond to jigging with metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs over the rock, and halibut come to drift jigging with heavy leadhead jigs, herring, or octopus along the deeper edges. Salmon are taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies across the pinnacle, with mooching cut-plug herring a workable alternative for Chinook.
