San Simon Point Hump is a rocky pinnacle rising from the outer exposed waters off Port Renfrew, with depths running from 40 to 115 feet across broken rock structure. The pinnacle holds Lingcod, which peak from May through August, alongside Pacific Halibut that fish strongest from March into August and hold near the base of the structure. Chinook Salmon move through from May to September and Coho follow from June to September, both worked over and around the high ground. Anglers target Lingcod by jigging metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the rock, while Halibut come to drift jigging with heavy leadhead jigs, salmon bellies, herring, or octopus along the deeper margins. Salmon respond to trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and spoons through the water column above the pinnacle.
