Douglas Point is an outer-exposed rocky drop-off off Qualicum Beach, British Columbia, where the bottom falls away through depths of 260 to 660 feet. Chinook Salmon peak from July through September and Coho Salmon run from June into October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, and hootchies along the edge of the structure. Lingcod hold on the rock through their winter peak of January to March, responding to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs worked close to the bottom. Pacific Halibut move through from March into August and are targeted by drift fishing whole herring, salmon bellies, and octopus across the deeper flats below the drop. The steep rock also supports Canary, Yellowmouth, and Copper Rockfish along with Pacific Cod, making the point a year-round mix of salmon and bottomfish.
