About Elephant Eye Point Hump

Elephant Eye Point Hump is an outer-exposed rock pinnacle in DFO subarea 14-3 off Qualicum Beach, rising through depths of 155 to 455 feet. The structure holds lingcod, which peak from January through March, alongside bank rockfish, darkblotched rockfish, and sablefish drawn to the rocky relief. Anglers work the pinnacle for lingcod with jigging using metal jigs, swimbaits, or leadhead jigs, supplemented by bait fishing with whole herring, squid, or live greenling. Chinook salmon move through from July to September and respond to trolling with anchovy, herring, trolling spoons, or hootchies, while coho hold from June to October and take trolled hootchies, spoons, bait strips behind a flasher, or small plugs. The steep rock and exposed setting concentrate fish across a wide vertical range, so working the full depth band keeps you on the productive water.
