Hump 2.7 km NE of Parksville Bay is a rocky pinnacle rising off Qualicum Beach, with depths that run from 15 to 80 feet across mid-exposure water. The structure holds Pacific Halibut through their March-to-August peak and Lingcod that concentrate from January to March, alongside Black Rockfish that stack up from April to September. Halibut respond to drift fishing over the rock with whole herring, salmon bellies, or large jigs, while Lingcod come to metal jigs and swimbaits worked close to the pinnacle. Chinook Salmon move through from July to September and Coho from June to October, both taken by trolling anchovy, herring, spoons, or hootchies above the structure. The rock also supports Pacific Ocean Perch, Canary Rockfish, and Sablefish at the deeper end of the range.
