Hump 1.1 km SE of Race Passage is a rocky pinnacle in the outer, exposed waters off Sayward, British Columbia, rising through a depth range of roughly 20 to 615 feet. The structure holds Lingcod, which peak from February through April and again in August and September, alongside Pacific Halibut from April to August and Chinook Salmon from May to August. Anglers work the pinnacle for Lingcod with metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs over the rock, dropping deeper for Halibut on leadhead jigs and metal jigs where the bottom falls away. Chinook and Coho Salmon come through the surrounding water in summer and into fall, with Coho holding from June into October, and trolling spoons and hootchies cover the upper column. Quillback Rockfish stay resident year-round on the rocky structure and respond to jigged metal and soft plastic swimbaits.
