Peterson Islet sits off Sayward, British Columbia, an outer-exposed rock drop-off where the bottom falls away through depths of roughly 330 to 1310 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon from May through August and Coho Salmon from June into October, with both species taken by trolling anchovy, herring, hootchies, and trolling spoons over the edge. Lingcod work the rock through the winter and early spring peak of February to April and again in late summer, responding to metal jigs, swimbaits, and leadhead jigs. Pacific Halibut move across the deeper contours from April through August, where drift jigging with leadhead jigs, metal jigs, and soft plastic swimbaits reaches fish along the slope. Rougheye Rockfish, Sablefish, and Pacific Cod round out the deepwater catch on the same drop-off.
