Hatch Point is a rocky drop-off in DFO subarea 19-7 off Sidney, British Columbia, where the bottom falls through a mid-exposure zone between 40 and 180 feet. The structure holds Chinook Salmon through their June to August peak and Coho Salmon across a longer May to September window. Downrigger trolling anchovy in a teaser head, trolling spoons, hootchies, and flashers works the Chinook along the steeper sections of the ledge, while mooching cut-plug or whole herring covers the same water at a slower pace. Coho respond to trolling spoons, hootchies, flashers, and cut-plug herring near the top of the drop, with bucktailing an option higher in the water column. Metal jigs work the deeper edges when fish sit tight to the rock.
